Meet Breanna & K9 Roxy:
Name: Breanna
Name of K9: Rockatansky (Roxy)
Breed of K9: Australian Cattle Dog
Discipline(s): To be determined!
How you got started with SAR/how long you have been involved: Breanna gained a passion for K9 work while she was in college volunteering with the MD SPCA. Part of her MS degree focused on working dogs for wildlife and conservation medicine and led her to pursuing a discipline with the local K9 SAR team. It wasn’t until early 2025 that her schedule permitted time for it and she joined the SWFL K9 Search & Rescue Unit.
Personal Credentials/Dog Credentials: BS Chemistry, MS Wildlife Ecology & Conservation with a concentration in Wildlife Forensic Sciences & Conservation
K9’s favorite activities when not participating in SAR: Roxy loves running along the shoreline at the beach but definitely is not a swimmer! If she can do activities with a tennis ball in her mouth, she will, whether it’s eating, sleeping, playing fetch or barking! She loves herding the tortoises and cats at home and loves spending time with her human nephews (and herding them, too!). Roxy is also known for being one of the best road trip companions and enjoys exploring new places!
